The Town of Jewett currently funds the provision of Ambulance service with funds raised through its General Fund which are collected as a levy against the value of taxable properties in the Town. The Town enters into an annual contract with the Town of Windham to cover such service. In order to fund this service directly, and in a manner best allocating costs to those benefitted by the services, the Town is considering whether it would be in the public interest to form a special Ambulance District to assess taxes separately from the Town’s General Fund.
