The end of the year meeting of the Jewett Town Board was held on Monday, December 29, 2014.
Supervisor James Pellitteri called the meeting to order at 6:01 P.M. Present were Board Members Michael McCrary and Nathan Miles. Board member William Trach was absent. No public was present.
On a motion by Councilman McCrary 2nd by Councilman Miles and carried, The Board moved to table the minutes of December 10, 2014 general meeting to the January organizational meeting.
On a motion by Councilman McCrary, 2nd by Councilman Miles and carried, the board adapted resolution #24 of 2014. Subject: The Town of Jewett Support of Participation in the New York City Department of Environmental Flood Buyout Program regarding the Rosentreter Property.
“WHEREAS the Town of Jewett is subject to flooding that can damage property, close roads, disrupt traffic, and present a public health and safety hazard; and
WHEREAS, at the request of local communities, funding support from the NYC Department of Environmental Protection (NYCDEP) is being made available to help property owners who meet eligibility criteria in two flood buyout program categories – 1) recommended within a Local Flood Analysis (LFA) and 2) outside a LFA that meets criteria for one of three sub-categories – Erosion Hazard, priority stream restoration project, and inundation hazards, and
WHEREAS the Town has been approached by the homeowner at 102 Country Route 17 in the Town of Jewett, tax parcel # 146.00-1-2, requesting assistance to be bought out given the hazardous nature of the home on an eroding stream bank, and
WHEREAS technical visits from the Greene County Soil & Water Conservation District Stream Management Program and the Town of Jewett Code Enforcement Officer confirmed that this home is in jeopardy of falling into the stream thereby necessitating condemnation of the building on January 22, 2014, and
WHEREAS, there is a significant risk of the home falling into the East Kill resulting in potential impacts to the stream and surrounding infrastructure,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT:
The Town of Jewett supports working with the NYCDEP, GCSWCD and the homeowners of 102 Country Route 17, Theodore and Barbara Rosentreter, to apply for assistance in the NYCDEP-sponsored Flood Buyout Program to permanently remove this flood hazard, while allowing the Rosentreter’s to receive pre-flood value for their home”.

On a motion by Councilman McCrary, 2nd by Councilman Miles and carried, the board adapted resolution #25 of 2014. Subject: Transfer of Funds.
“WHEREAS all funds must be in balance at the end of the fiscal year, in order that the Appropriation Accounts be balanced the following transfers should be made:

Other Business: Discussions were made regarding the ongoing proposals from Greene County EMS.
Councilman McCrary made a motion, 2nd by Councilman Miles and carried to approve the bills. General Fund was $4,281.31 on abstract #12A, claim numbers 314-321. The Highway Fund was $1,542.93 on abstract #12A, claim number 240.
Councilman Miles made a motion, 2nd by Councilman McCrary and carried to adjourn the meeting at 8:25 P.M.
